Exos Heroes Guardian Stone System
Watch the video above to know how to mix Guardian Stones on the popular mobile gacha game Exos Heroes! You'll see how I make the winning combo for my brand new shiny Gold fatecore Tantalo!
About Guardian Stones
For those new to Exos Heroes, guardian stones make or break your hero, like literally. Each hero has a base element. All heroes also get a random guardian stone, and each piece of fated armor has a random guardian stone. This makes a maximum of 6 guardian stones per hero.
From there, it's a bit of a guessing game. Once you attack a hero and that hero has a guardian stone of the attacking heroes' element, that guardian stone will break. If you break all the hero's guardian stones, that hero is now broken. The broken hero cannot attack for 7 turns, receive double damage, and generate 1 mana for whoever attacks them.
I won't get into the history of how the breaking system has changed because it has a lot. For example, before, each stone had a different broken effect. There was also a change where heroes can now be elementally enhanced. So instead of breaking 1 stone per attack, they can now break up to 6 stones of the heroes' element when fully enhanced. It takes a lot of heroic tokens and copies of the heroes and coins to get to that point, but it can be done. This means that if you have heroes that are all the same guardian stone color, and you have a fully elemental enhanced hero, you'll have a broken hero in a heartbeat.
Not to mention, if you set your whole team to 1 guardian stone color, imagine what would happen when facing a fully elemental enhanced hero with AOE. Your entire team will wipe out pretty quickly.
Guardian Stone Effects
The guardian stone set effects are different pre-awaken and after awakening. In other words, fated armor vs. R1 armor, but I'm just gonna talk about the Rank 1 armor effects because that's the type of armor elemental enhanced heroes typically have.
The most popular combination of having 6 red fire guardian stones for the buffy +5000 hp for a complete 6 set is now dangerous. There are many useable fire heroes like Zeon, Annie, Rachel, Scarlet, and Magi, just to name a few. Probably minus the light and darkness sets, any other stones of 6 colors is a risky move. So what are the options?
Mixing Guardian Stones on Armor
Mixing stones is a smart move for Exos Heroes. The set effects are divided into 2 broad groups, Flame, Machine, and Darkness, which are in sets of 2, so I'll call them 2 sets and Frost, nature, and Light, in sets of 3, so I'll call them 3 sets. Since the maximum number of stones you can have is 6, it makes sense that you would naturally try to pair the 2 sets together and the 3 sets together.
For example fire +4 Machine +2 for +2700 HP and +1.8 hit or frost +3 and light +3 for defense +225 +dodge rate +3.
However, the 2 sets have the hit rates, and the 3 sets have the dodge rate, so you have to mix and have a random odd stone if you'd like to have a little bit of each stat on the hero. When mixing, you just have to do a little math. Like fire + 2 and frost +3 and a random stone for hp +750 and defense +175, but that's not as good as if you were to do fire + 2 and dark +4 to get hp+750 and defense +225.
If you want a little bit of everything and have hit rate and dodge rate on the hero, you'd have to mix, for example, Machine +2 and Light +3 to get hp + 450 hit +1.8 defense + 50 and dodge rate +3.
However, the 2 sets have the hit rates, and the 3 sets have the dodge rate, so you have to mix and have a random odd stone if you'd like to have a little bit of each stat on the hero. In this case, you'd probably want to get a really random stone of another color like light/yellow so that you'll need to be hit by 3 different heroes (or a hero that can randomly break stones like Uloom) to be broken instead of 2 heroes.
Light and darkness heroes are by far less common, so that's a stone that's a safe bet to have as the odd one out.
How to Choose the Right Mix?
The mixture has to do with how you like to play and what benefits the heroes.
- Some heroes like generals need hp or defense for their passive, so you'd want to create a set around that.
- Some heroes need to land attacks for an effect to go off like FC Schmid, so you'd want to build him on the 2 sets for the hit.
- There are heroes like Talia that rely on dodge, so you'd want to build her on a 3 set.
For me, I like to have well-rounded teams. I don't want to have 1 powerhouse tag team and have the other 2 teams really weak, but I prefer to have the individual hero be high in one stat versus well-rounded. So for my playing style, it doesn't make sense to mix up more than 2 guardian stone colors for a hero.
